What are Tarot Cards?

In a deck of tarot cards there are 22 Majors and 56 Minors and all 78 cards are known as Arcana.  The word Arcana comes from the same root as “arcane” and means secret or mystery.  So, in one deck we’ve got the greater mysteries and the lesser mysteries.  Yet, a deck of Tarot Cards is nothing more than 78 different sets of images, symbols and characters portraying different aspects and behaviors of the human condition on little bits of cardboard.

Remember that no card is totally positive and no card is totally negative.  In fact, each card has the balance and polarity of a positive meaning and a negative meaning.  Because, without the dark how can there be light?

The Major Arcana cards indicate the mysteries of significant life events, phases and transformations through the use of mythic archetypes such as The Fool, The Magician, The Hermit, The Wheel of Fortune, Justice, The Star, The Sun, The Moon and The World.

The Minor Arcana cards show us what to do or what is going on in our lives on a mundane level. It’s the stuff of normal, common every day situations. The Minor cards have 4 suits:

What is a Tarot Reading

Contrary to popular belief a tarot reading is not so much about “seeing” into the future as it is about seeing into yourself. Rather than just fortune telling, a tarot reading is a snapshot in time. It can show you “where you’re at” physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. And, it doesn’t work by reason or logic. The cards give you clues about what is happening in your life right now. It is up to you how you will use your own intuition to see what each card is reflecting back at you. It is up to you just what you will do with that information. How will you use your free will?

Remember that the cards are not fate and their guidance is not set in stone. Every individual has the free will to choose their path in life. The cards work like a mirror and only reflect back at you who you are today. If you don’t like the outcome the cards are showing you, then it’s probably time for you to choose to change your life in order to get a different outcome.   Meet Kassandra
